Jodi 'Westy' Dumbleton
Who am I?
Most of you know me as Westy but my real name is Jodi. I’ve been playing hockey since the 80s, with a couple of years off here and there. I’ve been married for 15 years and have 2 teenagers. 1 of which I’ve finally convinced to start playing hockey this year 👊
How many years have you been at the Werribee Hockey Club?
Since 2006, I played with Deansy at Essendon and was going to give up playing hockey at the ripe age of 25. Deansy convinced me to come down and I've loved the club ever since. I can’t keep away.
Scott, my husband calls me John Farnham - always on a come-back tour 😂
What is the best part of the Werribee Hockey Club?
Everything. The club is welcoming, inclusive, family-oriented and fun. I’ve made so many lifetime friends through this club.
Oh, and I can’t leave out the club functions. I’ve enjoyed a few over my time (I may or may not have been crowned queen bogan at bogan bingo night)
Which position do you play on the field?
I am a deep defender, so full-back. I get a 5 min gig up forward every now and then 😊
What is your most memorable moment playing hockey?
That’s a tough one. So many to choose from.
I would have to say winning 3 premierships in a row when I was at Essendon.
Sabah’s brilliant save last week was up there, as well as getting to play with so many up-and-coming juniors.
What is your favourite dish to cook at home?
Lasagne. I hide lots of veggies in it (don’t tell my kids).
What is the best advice you have been given?
Just one positive thought in the morning can change your whole day.
