It is with sadness that we announce that yesterday, Saturday28th August, Kylie passed away peacefully in her sleep.

We extend our sincere condolences to Mick, Lucy and Molly and to Kylie’s extended family.

Kylie joined our Club 6 years ago. She played in our women’s thirds, seconds, masters and had a run or two in the ones. Kylie’s daughters Lucy and Molly are also members of the Club, playing in our juniors and women’s teams. Her determination to improve was rewarded and she became a highly valued member of each team she played in. Kylie’s infectious smile and general happy nature made a difference wherever she was involved. Her friendly and welcoming nature meant she has many friends across the Werribee Hockey Club family, not only as a player but as a Mum. Kylie actively engaged in many aspects of the Club - player, team manager, helper in so many ways – with functions and events, in each of these roles providing support, encouragement and building confidence in others.

I would like to share part of the email Kylie sent me four weeks ago:

“I think I joined in 2016?. I had an old wooden stick, had never played on turf before and knew very few of the rules. The Masters let me play and patiently taught me the rules. Sam, Tash and Holly taught me some basic stick skills. I have never come across a more friendly and welcoming group of girls before. All the best for the future of the club.”

I believe this sums up Kylie – always thinking of others.

Thank you, Kylie, for being part of the Werribee Hockey Club. We have had lots of fun and laughs along the way. We look forward to continuing to see Lucy and Molly develop and grow in their hockey. We will be there for them.

Rest in Peace Kylie. You will be missed.
